Aleh believes that every child, regardless of the severity of the physical or cognitive disability, has the right to benefit from the best available care and develop to his or her fullest potential.
Our first home was established in 1982, and today Aleh is Israel’s largest and most advanced network of residential facilities for children with severe disabilities. Approximately 650 severely disabled Jewish children are receiving top quality medical, educational and rehabilitative care at our branches in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Gedera and the Negev.
The new 25-acre Aleh Negev rehabilitative village, located near Ofakim, is a multi-faceted facility that has been designed specifically for people over 21 years of age who are physically or mentally impaired, and for children seeking care in the southern area. A village in every sense of the word, Aleh Negev will provide 220 children and adults with a home, schooling, employment, medical care and opportunities for social interaction.
In addition to providing outpatient services to some 12,000 children and young adults with disabilities living in the area, Aleh Negev will create approximately 500 jobs for area residents in a variety of fields, including education, rehabilitation, maintenance, administration, medicine, supportive care and more.
The chairman of Aleh Negev is Major General Doron Almog who, in addition to being one of Israel’s military heroes, is the father of Eran, a mentally disabled young man living in one of Aleh’s centers.
