Senator Joseph Lieberman
Senator Lieberman and his family are close friends and supporters of the ALEH Foundation since 1992. Now in his fourth term representing Connecticut in the United States Senate, Joe Lieberman has earned a national reputation as a thoughtful, principled, and effective legislator. He is perhaps best known as the Democratic candidate for Vice President in 2000. More than that, he is a national leader who works across Party lines to find common ground, who speaks his conscience, and who gets things done for Connecticut and the country. That reputation is based on a long and distinguished record. Senator Lieberman is one of Congress's most influential voices on security issues.
Senator Chuck Schumer
Senator Schumer is a friend and supporter of the ALEH Foundation and has attended many Aleh Events. Over the past three decades in public service, U.S. Senator Charles "Chuck" Ellis Schumer has built a reputation as a leader in finding common-sense solutions to national issues and a tireless fighter for New York. Chuck was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 23, 1950 to parents Selma, a homemaker active in the community, and Abe, who owned a small exterminating business. Chuck grew up the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood and with his siblings, Fran and Robert, attended PS 197 and Madison High School. Chuck still resides in Brooklyn with his wife, Iris Weinshall, and their daughters Jessica and Alison
Congressman Jerrold Nadler
Congressman Nadler is a close friend and supporter of The ALEH Foundation. His wife Joyce was the recipient of the Woman of the Year Award in 1996 and they attended many Aleh Foundation Gala Events. Congressman Jerrold "Jerry" Nadler represents the Eighth Congressional District of New York, which includes much of the West Side of Manhattan, the Financial District and a number of diverse neighborhoods in southwestern Brooklyn. He began his political career in 1976 in the New York State Assembly, where he served for 16 years. In 1992, following the death of Congressman Ted Weiss, Nadler was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a special election and has served in Congress ever since.
Congressman Edolphus Towns
Edolphus 'Ed' Towns of Brooklyn, New York is a 14-term veteran in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he serves as Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. As committee chair, Rep. Towns has jurisdiction to investigate any federal program and any matter with federal policy implications, such as: federal procurement, federal agency management, civil service and information policy. Rep. Towns represents the 10th Congressional District of New York,.
David Friedman
David Friedman is a staunch supporter and friend of the Aleh Foundation. He chaired many of the Aleh Foundation Gala Events along with his wife Tammy. David is a successful attorney and practices in the field of Bankruptcy; Commercial Litigation and Securities. He was a member of New York University Journal of international law & Politics, 1980-1981. David Friedman Authored "Prepackaged Plans of Reorganization," P.L.I., 1991; Faculty, Practicing Law Institute, "Corporate Deleveraging and Restructurings," 1991.
Kenneth Greif
Kenneth Greif (right) an avid Aleh Foundation supporter accepting Award from Ehud Olmert at 2003 Gala. Kenneth Greif of Englewood NJ, a consistent supporter of the Aleh Foundation has manifested a passion for philanthropy and sensitivity to disabled Jewish children. Kenny and Susan helped Shlomo Berger arrange many successful events for the Aleh Foundation. Susan and Kenny dedicated a hall in the Jerusalem Center in memory of their aunt, Luba Korn.
Jack Harounian
Jack Harounian is one of Aleh Foundation's most active advisory board members, supporter and friend. When Rabbi Braun reached out to him Mr. Harounian & his wife Violet agreed to host a very successful fundraising event for Aleh Foundation at their Kings point/ Great Neck home where they introduced more than 150 civic & business leaders to the Foundation's wonderful work. Mr. Harounian has very strong ties to Israel, which he expresses through deep personal involvement and through philanthropy. Jack & Violet and their children are the cornerstones of the Foundation.
Peter Lichtenberg
Peter Lichtenberg is an Aleh Foundation Honorary Board Member, supporter and friend. He & his wife Jamie served as journal chairpersons at the most recent Gala Events in the Museum of Jewish Heritage. He is a financial representative that specializes in helping charities like ALEH. Peter's expertise is working with high net-worth business owners and professionals in the areas of Succession Planning, Retirement Planning and key employee Benefit Programs, as well as wealth transfer, Legacy & Charitable Planning concerns. Drew Parker
Honorary board member Drew Parker, & his lovely wife Careena of Englewood NJ have graciously sponsored a successful fund-raising event in their home along with Henry & Rhona Anhalt. They give of their time & resources to enable the Aleh Foundation to succeed in their numerous projects to help disabled children of Israel to thrive and succeed.
Rob Rubin
Rob Rubin and his wife Annette have been active board members and friends of Rabbi Shlomo Braun and the Aleh Foundation since it's inception. They were honored at the 1995 Awards Breakfast and introduced many of their family and friends to the Foundation's activities. Annette and Rob Rubin hosted the first gathering for Aleh Foundation in their home in Highland Park, Illinois and introduced many new friends to the Foundation. Annette and Rob recently dedicated a music room in Aleh Negev in memory of Annette's grandmother, Mrs. Adela Goldfinger O.B.M., who had been a musician herself with an outstanding love and appreciation for music.
Susan Dee Settenbrino, Esq.
Susan Dee. Settenbrino, Esq. is a distinguished attorney. She was admitted to practice law in the states of New York & New Jersey in 1994. Since then she has been admitted to the Eastern & Southern District Courts, as well as Tax Court. She is a former Assistant District Attorney, Appellate Trial Attorney, and Associate Professor and a member of the NY State Bar Association. Ms. Settenbrino is an active board member, supporter, honoree, chairperson and friend of the ALEH Foundation. Recently Ms. Settenbrino and her husband, Dr. Terry Davies celebrated their son, Ariel's Bar Mitzvah at the Kotel in Jerusalem and sponsored an ALEH child's bar Mitzvah at the same time, a very moving celebration.
Professor Twersky
Professor Twerski has been a longtime friend and supporter of the Aleh Foundation. He is a preeminent authority in the areas of products liability and tort law. The American Bar Association's Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section honored him with the 2007 Robert B. McKay Law Professor Award, which recognizes law professors who are committed to the advancement of justice, scholarship and the legal profession in the fields of tort and insurance law.
Rubin Berlinerblau, M.D.
Dr. Rubin Berlinerblau is a Clinical Professor, of Medicine at State University of New York, Downstate and Maimonides Medical Center and has a private practice in Medicine Cardiology at 1903 Avenue K in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Berlinerblau graduated the University of Paris Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and Broussais Hospital (France). Languages Spoken in the Office: Russian, Hebrew, French, Polish, and Yiddish. Dr. Rubin Berlinerblau is a friend and supporter of the ALEH Foundation and was coveted with the distinguished Medical Leadership Award at the Aleh Celebration in 2002 and serves as a Medical Board Member of the Aleh Foundation.
HOWARD M. FELDMAN, MD
Dr. Feldman, Aleh Foundation’s 2011 Journal Chairperson, was born and raised in Brooklyn. He graduated from NYU with honors and was the recipient of the Merck, Sharp and Dome achievement award for chemistry. He attended Downstate Medical School and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. He performed his internship and straight medical residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC and completed his cardiac fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology. Dr. Feldman is a frequent contributor to several cardiovascular publications and is in great demand as a lecturer. He has a successful practice in Borough Park, Brooklyn, and is affiliated with both Maimonides and Methodist Hospital. He & his wife Karoll reside in Long Beach and were the recipients of Aleh Foundation’s Prestigious Awards in 2004 and 2010.  They are loyal friends and supporters of the Foundation.
Steven Herman, M.D.
Dr. Steven Herman, an accomplished cardiologist is an active Medical Board Member. Dr. Herman and his wife Jacqueline are active supporters and friends of the Aleh Foundation. They hosted a beautiful gala event in their palatial home in Englewood New Jersey for the benefit of the Aleh Foundation's many activities. Dr. Herman continues to support Aleh Foundations numerous activities & attend many events.
Dr. Steven Pavlakis, Director of the Center for Brain and Behavior at Maimonides Infants and Children’s Hospital, graciously accepted the nomination to join the elite group of Medical Board Members. He is a Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.  Dr. Pavlakis received both his BSc in biology and an MD at Brown University.  Later he completed his Pediatric and Neurology training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.  He is board certified in Pediatrics, Neurology with special competency in Pediatric Neurology, and Neurodevelopment Disabilities. Dr. Pavlakis was appointed the Chief Scientific Officer of the Maimonides Medical Center from which included a fully functional animal laboratory, wet labs, and a clinical trials unit. Child Neurology and Developmental Medicine currently has 6 faculty members in pediatric neurology and three pediatric neurosurgeons with a fully functional and dedicated in patient EEG monitoring unit in the first Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn serving a population of 2.5 million people. Dr. Pavlakis received the distinguished Medical Leadership Award at the 2013 Awards Dinner at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. Dr. Pavlakis is eagerly looking forward to exchanging medical techniques between his department in Maimonides Medical Center and the Aleh Centers in Israel.
Aleh is honored to welcome Dr. Lee Eric Tessler, Executive Director and Co-Surgical Director of the Long Island Brain Tumor Center at Neurological Surgery, P.C. (NSPC), and a board certified neurosurgeon, on the distinguished panel of ALEH Medical Board Members. He specializes in the treatment of primary brain tumors, metastatic tumors, meningiomas, stereotactic surgery, and radiosurgery.  He obtained his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, Columbus, Ohio.  Previously, Dr. Tessler worked at the University of Florida’s Center for Neurobiological Sciences. He obtained certification in both Gamma Knife and Cyber Knife Radiosurgery.  Dr. Tessler was appointed as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at NYU Medical Center. He is currently the Chief of Neurotrauma and the Chairman of the Neurosurgery Quality Improvement Committee at Winthrop University Hospital. Most recently, Dr. Tessler was elected as Treasurer of the Medical Staff for Mercy Medical Center and serves as Secretary of the Nassau County Medical Society. He has written about Advanced MRI for Brain Tumors, The Progression to Surgery after Gamma Knife Radiosurgery of Cerebral Melanoma Metastases, and Anterior Spinal Meningiomas. He has published comments on articles about robotic neurosurgery and intracranial surgery with three-dimensional ultrasound. Dr. Tessler serves as the New York Delegate to the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies. He is a Police Surgeon with the Nassau County Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police. Dr. Tessler received the distinguished Community Service Award at the Aleh Foundation Awards Dinner on May 8, 2013.
Brenda Kohn, M.D.
Walter Molofsky, M.D.
Dr. Kohn is a Pediatric Endocrinologist and has published several articles on pediatric endocrinology and metabolism. Dr. Molofsky, a doctor with remarkable dedication stands in the forefront of his specialty. He serves as Associate Chairman, Department of Neurology and Co-Director of Pediatric Neurology at Beth Israel medical Center. Drs. Kohn & Molofsky understand the importance of Aleh Foundation's work and challenges faced by their families. Walter Molofsky, MD & his wife, Dr. Brenda Kohn are supporters, friends, honorees and Medical Board Members. They were honored in 2000 when they introduced many of their friends to the Foundation and raised funds to benefit Aleh Foundation's numerous projects.
Ben-Zion Krieger, M.D.
Dr. Krieger is a pediatrician at Yeled V'Yalde and an Associate Professor in Downstate Medical Center. His special professional interests are allergy and immunology. Born in Israel, Dr. Krieger decided to study medicine upon completion of his military service. Dr. Krieger and his wife Betty live in Hillcrest, Queens where he is a board member and former President The Torah Center of Hillcrest. In addition to being a steadfast supporter and friend of Aleh Foundation, the Kriegers are involved in many notable charities. Dr. & Mrs. Krieger accepted the distinguished Humanitarian Award at the 1998 Aleh Foundation Breakfast.
Rabbi Shlomo Braun / Founder & Director
Rabbi Shlomo Braun has had a long and distinguished 40-year career in public and community service. He has worked for Congressmen Stephen Solarz and Jerrold Nadler, Assemblyman Peter Abbate Jr. and presently serves as Community Representative for State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-22nd AD). He began his career as a social worker for JASA, where he specialized in entitlement counseling. He eventually ascended to the position of Director of Social Services for the Council of Jewish Organizations of Borough Park, where he trained and supervised a staff of twenty professionals. Rabbi Braun has lectured extensively throughout his career on such topics as; benefits and entitlements for senior citizens, entitlements for people with special needs, changes in eligibility guidelines, and where and how to obtain information and referral services. Rabbi Braun is presently the Founder and Director of the Aleh Foundation. His caring nature carries over to his personal life as well, where he and his wife Chana support a number of worthy causes both in the US and Israel.
Sam Amster
Sam Amster was the director Personnel in Community School District 21. Sam became active in the teachers Guild a predecessor of the U.F.T. and helped organize the high school teachers organization and the evening school teachers to form the U.F.T. Mr. Amster helped organize the first city wide grievance committee for the UFT and helped train grievance counselors to enforce effectively the contract. He became the first chapter leader at JHS 43 and lead the teachers strikes of 1967 1968 and 1975. Sam is an active board member and a staunch supporter of the Foundation. He was honored and served as Chairman at many of the Aleh Foundation's Awards Events and introduced many of his friends to the Foundation.

Edward Bogopulsky
"Love is Blind" Retinitis pigmentosa stole Mr. Edward Bogopulski's ability to see, but not his ability to care. The Brooklyn Man's impediment has blossomed his compassion for others who are disabled, particularly children. In spite of his physical challenge Bogopulsky surges ahead to achieve his life's goals, and is currently Vice President of The Aleh Foundation, a unique organization dedicated to improving lives of disabled children. At the 2000 Awards breakfast, Aleh Foundation paid homage to Mr. Bogopulsky. As he accepted his elegant gift he implored the hundreds of guests to open their hearts and take part in this cause.
Bogopulsky will never be able to see the smiles he made possible. For him, Love is truly blind.
Douglas Jablon
Douglas Jablon is Vice President of Maimonides Medical Center and special assistant to the CEO, Pam Brier. Douglas is an active board member and friend and introduced many of our honorees to ALEH. He is a respected pillar in the community and an active dedicated communal leader. He along with his wife Eddy were instrumental in raising funds and the success of many Aleh Foundation functions. Douglas was honored at one of the Foundation's Gala Events.
Susan D. Cohen
Susan D. Cohen is a community activist who has excelled as a caring Jew and in her service to humanity. She has a brilliant career of caring for special children as an occupational therapist in her private practice in Wesley Hills, NY. Sue was raised in New Jersey and then finished college with a B.A. in occupational therapy. Sue is a supporter, friend and board member of the Aleh Foundation. She received the distinguished Community Service Award at the Aleh Foundation Awards Luncheon in 1996 and introduced many friends and supporters to the wonderful work of ALEH Foundation.
Alisa Kasachkoff
Dr. Alisa Kasachkof, a Manhattanite, is a noted psychologist with specialties is pshychodiagnostic short-term therapy, psychoanalysis, hypnosis and smoking cessation. She has extensive training and experience in trauma and crisis intervention and proved to be a great asset to the corporate world and the federal government during and following the 911 crisis. Dr. Alisa Kasachkoff is an active board member who was honored several times at Aleh Foundation’s Gala Events. We recently celebrated the Grand Opening of the High Dependency Wing that she sponsored in Aleh Bnei Brak.
Sol Koschitzki
Sol Koschitzki is the Vice President of American Brilliance. Mr. Koschitzki is the Chairman of the Board of the Aleh Foundation and was the recipient of the Executive Leadership Award at the 20th Anniversary Celebration at the 2000 Aleh Foundation Awards breakfast. Mr. Koschitzki's fine leadership skills and professionalism were instrumental in the success of all fundraising projects of the Aleh Foundation. In addition to their friendship & support, Shloime & his wife Maty hosted a successful board meeting in their Sukkah.
Israel Lefkowitz
Israel Lefkowitz is the President of Palm Gardens Nursing Homes. He is an active member in the philanthropic community and a staunch supporter of the Aleh Foundation. Israel Lefkowitz was honored for his support and friendship in 1995. Mr. Lefkowitz and his wife Shoshana sponsored a hydrotherapy pool in 1993. In addition to being board members at ALEH Foundation, they are involved in many other local and overseas projects.
Cipi Lobel
Cipi Lobel is a woman who personifies that which is unique. She is a giver, in every sense of the word. Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Cipi came to this country at the age of three. She was involved in numerous philanthropic endeavors and helped coordinate many Munkatch Events. Her husband, Sigfried Lobel is the President of Bais Yisrael Synagogue. They are known in the community for their dedication to many different causes. Mrs. Lobel was honored in 2002 for her outstanding outreach and support in Aleh Foundation's Women's Chapter Gala Events.
William Nussen
Mr. Nussen, a successful entrepreneur is the President of Designs By FMC. He is the manufacturer and distributor of fine jewelry to many high-end showrooms and department stores. William Nussen is a board member and supporter who also hosted successful board meetings in his elegant Showroom. In addition to his generous support to the children, Mr. Nussen also donates beautiful gifts to the therapists and staff who take care of disabled children, cheering them on to continue their loyalties to the residents. Mr. Nussen and many of his staff members attend the Annual Aleh Foundation Gala Events.
Heshy Sauber
Heshy Sauber is the President of Orthocaraft, Inc. who fit orthopedic & prosthesis, casting equipment and parts and accessories as well as Orthopedic softgoods for lower extremity, Orthopedic softgoods for upper extremity and torso, Outrigger and dynamic splinting supplies, Prosthetic devices or accessories and supplies. Because Heshy & Penina are involved with handicapped and sick people they understand the need for supporting the Aleh Foundation's projects. Heshy & Penina are board members and supporters and introduced many of their friends to the Foundation's wonderful work. They were honored at the Aleh Foundation's Awards Luncheon in 2001.
Rabbi Gershon Tannenbaum
Rabbi Tannenbaum a grandson of the long line of Rabbonim of Verpelet received his Rabbinical Ordination from the chief Rabbinate of Israel.  Thereupon he served as Dean of Yeshiva Knesses Harabonim for over 16 years. Rabbi Tannenbaum is the Past President of Agugath Israel of 9th Avenue and a member of the Board of Directors of the Guardians of the Sick, as well as many reputable organizations. Currently Rabbi Tannenbaum serves as Executive Director of Igud Harabonim and is one of the editors of the Jewish Press. Rabbi Tannenbaum and his wife Sarah have been honored at the Aleh Foundation Awards Breakfast in 1996 and have been active board members & supporters since 1995

Jeffrey Tenenbaum has a private dental clinic in Brooklyn, NY where he treats clients with dignity & compassion. He was one of the founding Board Members of the Aleh Foundation in 1992 and has been President since 1997. Dr.Tenenbaum was responsible for organizing many events for the Foundation and introduced many of his family, friends and colleagues. He and his wife Sherry, a Special Ed teacher are dedicated, compassionate and generous friends to the Aleh Foundation.
